FAQ
What was the review and vetting process for the Modeling Guidelines and Procedures?
The manual went through two formal public review periods. The first review gave rise to 67 comments, which we then clarified and/or directly addressed with changes to the document. The second review only produced 1 comment, which we had already sufficiently addressed in the first period.
How long has the manual been in development?
The initial manual was developed from March 2009 to November 2009. As mentioned above, we had two public review periods in early 2010.
Is training needed to use [the Modeling Guidelines and Procedures] effectively and is such training available?
Training is under development. We anticipate that training on certain areas of the COMNET MGP specification will be useful to professionals. If you would like to keep updated on all COMNET developments, click here to sign up for our email list and receive our newsletter.
Is there software available to download?
The COMNET Modeling Guidelines and Procedures encompass a software specification, which means that eventually there will be COMNET approved software. However, COMNET itself will not develop software. Instead, new and existing software tools will use the COMNET specification and become COMNET accredited.
Do you offer presentations on COMNET?
Webinars are under development. These webinars will cover a range of topics including an introduction to COMNET as well as more technical, in depth subjects such as refrigeration and plug loads, TOU energy costs, and other elements in Chapter 6 of the Modeling Guidelines and Procedures. Stay tuned on the website for upcoming events and sign up for our newsletter here. If you have specific presentations requests, please contact us at info@comnet.org.
