COMNET Partners with U.S. Green Building Council

September 29

COMNET announces technology partnership with U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), creators of the LEED green building program and LEED Online.  Coined LEED Automation, the partnership enables users of LEED to easily sync up data and information with LEED Online, the software platform that manages the LEED green building certification process. The COMNET Web Portal uses this technology to automate the submission of energy modeling data for LEED Projects.

The COMNET Portal, will be demonstrated to beta users during Greenbuild 2011. The COMNET Portal enables energy modelers to directly upload into LEED Online building energy simulation data required for LEED submissions. By eliminating the tedious manual process of transcribing simulation output data into LEED input forms, the portal eliminates the chance for errors, enhances accuracy, and saves modeler time.

In its initial release, the COMNET Portal will offer two data paths for submission: file parsing for legacy outputs from eQUEST and the new COMNET XML Standard Output for other simulation tools. For eQUEST, the user uploads SIM files. The portal parses the file and extracts the data required for LEED submission. Prior to submission to LEED Online, the portal performs limited quality assurance checks. In later releases, the portal will also support automated submissions to demand side management program administrators and agencies responsible for granting building permits. Additional details are available in our press release.
