Proposed rules for use of COMNET under IgCC

On January 3, 2011,  the COMNET Modeling Guidelines and Procedures (MGP) was proposed to be a part of the performance-path compliance option for the International Green Construction Code (IgCC)see the full proposal. IgCC is the international Code Council's (ICC) new model green building code for all buildings other than low-rise residential. The COMNET MGP provides a set of energy modeling rules and guidelines that are more detailed and standardized than existing rules in the IgCC and other national model codes. The IgCC committee will consider proposals at its May 16 – 22 hearings. In addition to the IgCC, multiple state and local jurisdictions are considering requiring the use of the COMNET MGP as part of their performance-path energy code compliance options and their rating and disclosure requirements.
